(Your Spiritual Practice) Wait, wait….and wait some more…..
I woke up this morning to some wise words written by A Course in Miracles teacher, Jon Mundy. He writes every Sunday morning and I read from my cozy bed before joining the day….
This morning he wrote about something that is on our minds as we move gradually into the next season and continue to need to shelter in because of the pandemic.
=====>>>> He wrote about PATIENCE.
Patience…..well, I’m not going to say the obvious about it. I am however going to offer it up this morning as another SPIRITUAL practice (and therefore act of LOVE.)
My mother was the least patient person I knew. She was irritated much of her short life (at least the years that I was being raised by her) – it was sad, yes.
She was impatient when my father was late coming home at the end of a long day; she was impatient when the lines were long at the shopping mall; she was impatient with me or my sister if we weren’t being cooperative….she was inpatient with her mother on the telephone. I remember a lot of impatience. And therefore, a lot of unhappiness…..
These days seem to be calling us to the practice of PATIENCE. But seriously….let’s remember what’s happening right now in the world.
This current universe we are in is requiring us to BE STILL. To upgrade our level of CONSCIOUS AWARENESS. That’s happening now and is continuing…it’s not letting up…..
=====>>> What do we make of that?
Well, that we need to be MORE STILL, MORE CONSCIOUS and therefore move through life slower than perhaps we are used to.
It’s not time for quick decisions, or impulsive decisions. It’s not time to rush without thinking things through….and since we are not in control of the pace of our lives right now…we get to practice PATIENCE as a spiritual practice.
As a gift.
As an acknowledgment of reality.
As an invitation to listen deeply.
As an opportunity to see our triggers (thus learning about ourselves.)
As a practice to love what is.
Here’s what Jon Mundy shared this morning:
Those who are certain of the outcome can afford to wait, and wait without anxiety. Patience is natural to the teacher of God. All he sees is certain outcome, at a time perhaps unknown to him as yet, but not in doubt. The time will be as right as is the answer. And this is true for everything that happens now or in the future. The past as well held no mistakes; nothing that did not serve to benefit the world, as well as him to whom it seemed to happen. Patience is natural to those who trust. Sure of the ultimate interpretation of all things in time, no outcome already seen or yet to come can cause them fear.
